So by now you may have heard that I lost over 100 pounds. That’s pretty cool and the average person is into it. But strength people are going to be asking, “How much power did you lose? You spent all that time gaining muscle and getting strong and then you decide to lose weight.”
One of the things most heavyweights are deathly afraid of is losing power by losing weight. But I think if you drop it the right way and you’ll lose very little power. Now there are a few lifts that for a super-heavyweight are radically affected by leverage, but for pure muscle strength and retaining your muscle mass if you train and eat right you might even get stronger as you get in better shape. We’ll be bringing you several videos soon of some of my max lifts and showing you that’s true. This is one example.
In this video you’ll see me do weighted sit ups. That is a sit up with a stack of plates setting on my abdominal area. This strength feat has actually gone way up for me: 500 pounds for 15 reps. I’d say that counts as strong abs and certainly no loss in strength. In fact it’s actually 100 pounds more and more reps than I used to do.
If you want to know about building this kind of strength – what it really takes to get powerful – then get started with Twisted Conditioning.
God Bless,
Bud Jeffries
