“Creating Strength from Odd Angles in Any Position
Impossible to Train with Anything Else”
Dear Fellow Strongman,
What is the Iso-Ring? How do you train with it? What’s it good for? Why should I use it?
“Insert Price Is Right Announcer Voice” Well today friends we’re here to answer all these questions and more and tell you about this unique little device and how it can help your training.
Seriously we have received many questions about this unique piece of equipment and I’m going to explain it to you.
It is actually a simple rubber ring. We use two versions of the ring. One that stretches a bit and one that has almost no elasticity. Just enough so you can twist it to whatever shape you need for whatever exercise you’re using it for, but not enough that you can actually pull it more than inch or two.
The idea for it came from Matt Furey. Matt got it from the writings of old wrestlers including Farmer Burns, legendary wrestler and trainer from the turn of the century. The idea for using it is two-fold.
The first is to be able to do isometric exercises with an apparatus that lets you focus the resistance with your hands held close together.
A position you often find in grappling and martial arts.
To you give you a device you can hold in your hand and by using either your own or partner resistance, simulate applying and resisting holds and martial positions so that you can develop specific strength for applying in those situations.
The second is a short cable device for the purpose of allowing you train with the same strength building and resistance qualities as the Chest Expander set, but with a closer handhold.
The average chest expander set is minimally about 18″ long. Which is perfect for the exercises it’s intended for, but it leaves out an entire area of training with your hands closer than the 18″ starting position.
So by training with the Iso-Ring, what you have in effect is a short isometric/cable set. For training the ranges of motion that you can’t get with a normal chest expander.
(Although when you add the Iso-Ring, a short cable, to the LifeLine Chest Expander, a medium length cable, and the LifeLine Power Jumper, a long cable set, you have the ability to train every area of the body with every length of cable and range of motion possible. Hence the reason we added it to the cable portion of our Alternative Conditioning videos.)
So after Matt gave me that idea, I immediately saw the possibilities. I went and found a ring to train with and began to experiment with the exercises.
- What I found is that it fit perfectly into the cable training I was already doing.
- It filled in one more training gap allowing me to get stronger in my martial arts training and in my cable and pure strength training.
- I found that it was great for training the start of many movements as well as the tendons and ligaments and for training at angles you couldn’t do with a longer implement.
- It melded perfectly with the rest of the strength training and alternative conditioning that I was doing and the increased use of the isometric contractions made my muscles take on a whole new level of hardness.
Yet I didn’t seem to build much fatigue from using it and I could train in so many odd positions, creating strength from odd angles that were impossible to train with anything else. I found it great to use for partner assisted exercises and stretching. A wonderful device for helping to develop flexibility.
So after experimenting and developing the exercises to use with it we decided to put them on video for you to be able to take advantage of.
Here are a few of the 100… That’s right ONE HUNDRED, exercises and stretches that we put on the tape.

As you can see we’ve developed a series of exercises allowing you to use this tool by yourself or with a partner to develop serious muscular strength, martial strength and flexibility. Don’t dismiss the isometric work or short range cable pulling as something out of the ’60′s or for “girls.”
Isometric work has taken a beating for a few years in the muscles rags, but once you actually give it a try and feel it working, you’ll know those nay-sayers are full of crap.
Isometrics have been a key strengthening tool in most martial and physical training systems since the very beginnings of physical exercise. Take a serious look at the training of Shaolin monks and you’ll see an overwhelming amount of isometric exercise. Isometrics are also a key to burning inter-muscular fat and I think are a big reason why many of your hardcore martial artists truly have that ripped look.
We wanted to give you a tool to use for those isometrics that you just can’t do any other way. Something that I learned is that strength must be very specific if you’re going to apply it in a combat situation. I grappled with some very good people including Matt Furey and found out that I was a ton stronger than them in most ways, but that in some position specific places on the mat, I wasn’t much stronger if at all, because I had not done nearly as much work in those specific areas. Even though I could easily toss most of them around in the big holds, working in the little specific positions gave them an advantage. This is the tool to correct that.
This is the tool to help you transfer all the strength you’ve built and all the training that you’ve done to those specific areas so that you get the most absolute output and application of your strength.
This will teach you how to apply your strength and build tension and especially as it applies to grappling with another human being.
It will allow you to work in any way you can think of to learn to apply your strength to your specific task at hand be it arm wrestling (many of whom have the strongest arms in the world and are known to train with isometrics), grappling or striking, strongman stunts (allows you to work those short movements, tendons and muscles necessary for things such as bending), and generally give you that key to bridge that gap in applying your strength. You can also use it to extend your muscular endurance in those situations giving you that lasting power to apply in grappling and life. This is a big thing that it did for me. If it fills in an extra weakness for me, it can do the same for you.
The kind of strength that when you grab someone they can literally feel that you have control.
Plus you get all the benefits of regular cable training and bridging the gap of cable lengths, training in an infinite number of positions with and without a partner to build strength and flexibility.
That sure is an awful lot to squeeze out of a little rubber ring, but we’ll show you exactly how.
We also talk about length of time and amount of work to do with isometrics and stretches and how to mix it with other training. The partner work is fully demonstrated as are the stretches.
So how do you actually train with this?
Well get the DVD and find out.
God Bless,
Bud Jeffries
P.S. This is not some Hollywood production, just real hard training shown outdoors. In fact, this was shot back when we used VHS tapes. The quality of the video may not be the best, but I assure you that the information is. If you need a glitzy production then this DVD isn’t for you, and you should go back to the gym in your spandex and get on your hip adductor machine. But if you feel this is the right fit for you, go for it.
Sorry this product has been discontinued. Look for a new and improved version coming soon.
100% 3-month Money Back Guarantee
If you don’t feel like this DVD is worth every penny you can get a full refund no questions asked. Just return it and we’ll give you your money back. This is 100% risk-free. The truth is if for some reason this DVD doesn’t dramatically help you build incredible strength I don’t want your money and will happily give it back. |
