In this and future videos we’re going to begin showcasing some of the fighters I’ve been training in the last year and some of their training sessions. This is Derrick Stansberry. Been training with us for a bit less than a year.
Derrick is my kinda’ guy. Works incredibly hard and tough as a coffin nail. He’s also a full time veterinarian and an ex-rodeo rider. Just a little bit about his progress: He’s lost 16 pounds, added over 100lbs to his deadlift and over 70 to his one arm rows. His first session he could one-arm press a 75lb dumbbell and couldn’t do a windmill with it at all.
In this video you’ll see him one-arm press a 100lb dumbbell and then perform a windmill holding a 130lb kettlebell in the opposite hand. Then you’ll see him press a 120lb dumbbell and perform a windmill with that same 130lb kettle-weight in the opposite hand. That’s a 250lb windmill for a guy who’s 6’3” and 199lbs.
What’s the point of this exercise? Shoulder, power and stability and incredible abdominal strength. What’s the point of doing this for fighters? Makes you hit like a ton of bricks while staying flexible and making your abs hardened to be able to take a body shot like you’ve only been hit with a feather.
You’ll definitely be seeing more power feats and more training with Derrick soon. Till then if you want to learn more about how this training was accomplished then you’ll want to check out Super Strength & Endurance for Martial Arts
God Bless,
Bud Jeffries

This is a fantastic exercise, very underrated. I have done them up to 200lbs before and holy cow, takes your core strength to a whole new level.
