Health and Weight Loss 35

The thirty-fifth tip on health and weight loss.

All right. How we doing? Back again. Bud Jeffries. strongerman.com. superhumantraining.com. Here’s another tip. Today’s tip, if I had to give it a title, would be “Don’t Change With the Wind”. Most of the people, when they get out there, they get into the health and fitness lifestyle, and as soon as something new comes along, they jump on the bandwagon and that’s what they do. And in doing so, they shortcircuit their own progress.

Listen, dieting, exercise, first you’ll see results. You’ll get some immediate results but you’ll get the long term largescale results that most people are looking for, but it takes time. And in that time it takes consistency. Now, if you add things into your workout, to give it more variety, to try new stuff, absolutely. Should you radically change your workout just because somebody came out with something new?

No. The basics are the basics. You need squats. You need deadlifts. You need presses. You need rows. You need kettlebell work, you need bodyweight work, you need sled work, conditioning. Just because somebody comes out with something brand new, doesn’t make it the greatest thing since sliced bread.

Now, is it bad? I’m not saying that. But build yourself up a schedule that allows you to experiment with some other things for variety, but keep that consistency. Because somebody else changes it. Until you’ve made massive progress, don’t change your workout. Don’t do the same thing with diet, too.

Just because somebody else new comes out and they have pretty abs, doesn’t mean their diet is the best one in the world and you should radically change to it. Especially if it requires some kind of insane change, like eat nothing but, you know, eight protein shakes a day that you have to buy from Taiwan or wherever. And they need one meal at the end of the night, or whatever craziness that might be.

Basic, simple, don’t change just because somebody… Be smart about who you listen to, how you listen to what they do. Remember, most of this stuff has a sales pitch behind it. They’ll blow up the idea of the results you can get as part of that sales pitch behind it or some sort.

Consistency long term, not making changes, those people who think just because something new comes along will actually help you and accelerate your fat loss, especially once you have got your schedule dialed in.
