Health and Weight Loss 21

The twenty-first video in the series on health and weight loss.

Hey. Bud Jeffries, strongerman.com. Now, pay attention again. We’ve got more stuff to tell you about here. Smart things to help your life, help your fat loss, help your fitness, help your health. Here’s the tip. Start measuring your progress. And get a specific goal to be working toward that you can measure that progress toward. Now, what does that mean?

Most people when they come up and talk to me about, I want to get healthy, I want to get strong, I want to get whatever. I want to get fat loss. They don’t have a real goal. Hence, they don’t have any way to actually measure what’s wrong. All they have is the nebulous idea of I want to be healthy. Throw it out, like a die or something. Whatever rolls up is what they come up with as healthy.

Well, you’ve got to define exactly what you want as health. Exactly what you think health is. And post that, you’ve got to find a way to measure it. How do I measure, what do I look at? I look at a lot of different things. I look at the weight on the scale, but it’s not the end all be all. I look at inches on the waist, or inches around the body. Again. A good way to measure, not the end all be all.

Get that body fat percentage. A good way to measure, not the end all be all. Look at how heavy I can lift. Excellent way to measure. Not the end all be all. Look at my heart rate. My resting heart rate. Blood pressure. Good way to measure, not everything. Look at my endurance from the perspective of what can I do in a specific time period? How is my endurance from a measurable standpoint? Again, excellent way to measure, not the end all be all.

Everything together is the end all be all. But, you’ve got to have a specific point of knowing where you are. If you don’t know where you are, how can you know where you’re going to be? How can you know when you’ve gotten to a goal? How can you know when you’ve gotten?

You look in the mirror and use that as a measurement? Absolutely. Everyone of those is a valuable goal. Just don’t make any one of them an end all deal. But, what I would do, if I were you, get a goal in every one of those, get something specific in every one of those. Because, that gives you a lot of places to record and gain your absolute progress. Measure that progress, it’s the key to fat loss. Key to health.
