Grip Conditioning Workout
Here’s a cool one that’s a version of grip training mixed with conditioning that I’ve been experimenting with.
100 plate/stair rows
150 bottoms up kettlebell cleans
200 pushups
150 one arm D-handle deadlifts
100 pinch grip deadlifts
You can do this by finishing each of the exercises individually or by going in a circuit or a mix of both. I [...]

The Point of Diminishing Returns
I had a strength coach in college who first started talking to me about, “a point of diminishing returns.” At the time I heavily disagreed with him. In fact for the most part I still do.

Could You Survive?
If you mention the word, “survival” in fitness training you often run the risk of coming off like a nut. Yet the reality is that your physical training, whatever your goals or sport, ought to be building a body capable of use in a real world emergency. Now depending on your goals it [...]

Sandbag Conditioning for MMA
Here’s a little clip of a sandbag conditioning routine that we use with some of our fighters. The main focus is the use of the sandbag, but with some pretty unique exercises.
Sandbags are some of the greatest training tools in almost any sport but they especially apply to fighting. Almost nothing else [...]

Over Analysis
Yesterday I spoke to you about thinking about your progress and your weaknesses and whether or not your training is addressing those weaknesses and how it’s effecting your progress. I also spoke to you about balance and its need in training.
When I tell people to think about their training I’m always careful to follow it [...]
